2.6.3. SIN OFFERING (Leviticus 6:23-30)

Offered for a ruler or an individual, was to be eaten by the priest in the court of the Tabernacle. (Leviticus 6:26 ).

Leviticus 6:29 "All the males among the priests may eat it. It is most holy."

Representative of the whole body of believers, who were privileged to be a royal priesthood and to feed upon spiritual food through fellowship together with their Lord and Saviour.

2.6.4. TRESPASS OFFERING (Leviticus 7:1-10)

The instructions required the burning of the liver as in the sin offering, (Leviticus 7:3-5 ). All the best had to be given to God - showing that Christ's sacrifice brought satisfaction to the eternal purpose of His love.

2.6.5. PEACE OFFERING (Leviticus 7:11-38)

There are more directives to the priests about the peace offering than any other, most important to the priests. The New testament truth of the peace offering is most important to us.

Ephesians 2:14 "For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation."

By the blood of Christ we have peace and are united in one body. The many details may be difficult to interpret, but we can see wonderful pictures of Christ.

R.E. Harlow wrote in his brief study series on Leviticus: "It is interesting to consider the language of the Lord Jesus as recorded prophetically in the Psalms. In Psalm 40:6-8 we see the complete consecration of Christ to God. This reminds us of the burnt offering. In Psalm 16:10 it is prophesied that Christ would see no corruption even in death. Thus the meal offering with no leaven reminds us of Christ, God's Holy one. In Psalm 85:10 we see the results of Christ's work on the cross whereby the love of God flows out without hindrance and man is reconciled. This is the peace offering aspect of Christ's sacrifice. Psalm 22:1 is the cry of the Saviour from the depth of his suffering on the cross. God dealt with His Son because He became the sin offering for us. In the trespass offering the offerer restored more than what he had taken away. On the cross the Lord paid the debt of others. Thus Psalm 69:4 reminds us of the trespass offering."

All these offering commandments were given by God for our learning (Leviticus 7:37-38 ). What rich food leaders and people have been provided through access to God in Christ.
