Moses By Faith Decided To Leave Egypt (Hebrews 11:27)
Hebrews 11:27 "By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. " (KJV)
This forsaking of Egypt precedes the Passover. Also, Moses alone is said to have left, therefore this must refer to Moses' flight in Exodus 2:15. The context shows he fled to save his life - Hebrews points to the fact that it was not because he feared the anger of the king - he fled in faith, knowing God would in His faithfulness deliver Israel and that by taking the action of fleeing Egypt, he could wait God's timing and that he would have some part with the people of God.
At that time he was 40 years old. He had to wait another 40 years - God's time came when Moses was 80. There can be a long time between receiving a call and actual recognition and appointment. Hang in there - God is faithful. Moses perseverance of faith was renewed continually because he was seeing Him who is invisible. Beholding the Lord as ever before us, living daily by faith in the Lord's presence is the secret of happy endurance.
Moses By Faith Kept The Passover (Hebrews 11:28)Moses' faith in obeying God - the confrontation of Pharaoh - and the faith it took to be God's instrument of the devastating plagues is passed over. The crucial, climatic and central experience of the Passover in redemption is focused upon (Hebrews 11:28 ). He believed that the blood of the lamb sprinkled over the door posts of each Israelite house would stop the angel of death from entering.
1 Corinthians 5:7 "... Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:" (KJV)
(1 Corinthians 5:7-8 ). We have the blood of Jesus for our perfect protection, that to which the Passover pointed. Moses' act of faith demolished the resistance of Pharaoh - every firstborn of Egypt perished, not one of the sheltered Israelites died (Exodus 12 ). The Egyptians begged the Israelites to leave.
Moses And Israel By Faith Passed Through The Red Sea (Hebrews 11:29)
Hebrews 11:29 "By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned." (NKJV)
(See Exodus 14 ). Moses, in obedient faith raised his rod and stretched his hand over the sea to divide the water. Israel by faith passed between the walls of water arriving dry foot and safe on the far shore. When the army of Pharaoh tried the same thing, Moses obeyed in faith again and raised his rod and the Egyptian soldiers were all drowned. Faith takes no notice of things impossible when God has spoken .
