8.2.3. AS DISPLAYED BY NOAH (Hebrews 11:7)

Noah Did Not Have To See What Was Coming, To Believe

Hebrews 11:7 "By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, ..." (NKJV)

His faith was in what God said. He held firm God's warning of the flood, as yet never known, for 120 years. (Genesis 6:3,7 ).

Noah's Faith In God's Warning Moved Him With "Godly Fear"

Hebrews 11:7 "... moved with godly fear, prepared an ark ..." (NKJV)

When faith moves with godly fear there comes happiness (Psalm 128:1 ), growth in wisdom (Psalm 111:10; Proverbs 1:7; 9:10 ) and understanding and long life (Proverbs 10:27 ).

Noah In Faith Obeyed God And Constructed An Ark Of Deliverance

Hebrews 11:7 "... for the saving of his household, ..." (NKJV)

As a man of faith he brought salvation to his whole household. The promise to the Philippian jailor can be fulfilled in your household being saved - believing was the condition (Acts 16:31 ). Obedient faith shows the world how wrong it is.

Hebrews 11:7 "... by which he condemned the world ..." (NKJV)

Our faith lived out in obedience will show how wrong our generation really is, and reveal it to be "as the days of Noah" indicating the Lord's coming again (Matthew 24:37-39 ).

Noah Displayed That Righteousness Is Credited By Faith

Hebrews 11:7 "... and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith." (NKJV)

Romans 3:22-23 "even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," (NKJV)

Noah was the first individual in Scripture to be called righteous (Genesis 6:9 ). It was faith that made him an heir of the household of faith, enjoying "the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ."
