8.2.2. AS DISPLAYED BY ENOCH (Hebrews 11:5, 6)

Enoch Walked Away From A Life Of Sin

And from the great wickedness into which the people of his day had sunk (Genesis 6:5 ).

Enoch Had A Change Of Direction At 65 Years Of Age When His Son Methuselah Was Born

(Genesis 5:21-24 ).

Enoch Had Revelation From God

This is indicated by the prophetic naming of his son. The meaning of Methuselah bears this out. According to Hebrew scholars the Hebrew root 'muth' means 'death' and they translate the name "his death shall bring (it)." The flood came the year Methuselah died. That Enoch had prophetic revelation is further supported by the prophecy quoted in Jude 14-15, that looked down the millenniums to the Lord's coming again.

Enoch's Walk Of Faith Pleased God

Hebrews 11:5 "... for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. " (KJV)

His long years of ever increasing faith brought abounding love for God and His presence in which God took special delight. Faith is intimate and reaches out for greater intimacy.

Enoch Did Not Die, He Was Translated To Glory

He disappeared and a search was made for him but he,

Hebrews 11:5 "... and was not found, because God had translated him: ..." (KJV)

He points to what is going to happen to a whole generation of believers who will meet the Lord in the air ( 1 Thessalonians 4:17 ).

Enoch Displayed Faith In The Living God

Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (KJV)

Living faith in the living God brings experience of Him as the lavish rewarder. Enoch's display of faith is to encourage us with the knowledge of how to please GOD. Such faith will lead to faithfulness and fellowship that not even death can interrupt.
