3. PERSONAL INSTRUCTIONS

Healing is provided for the believer. When the instructions of God's Word are carried out in faith, God the Holy Spirit comes through with gifts of healings.

3.1. INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE SICK

The New Testament gives instructions to the sick among the believers. Divine healing is the way God continually provides for His people.

3.1.1. CALL FOR THE ELDERS OF THE CHURCH

Call for the prayers of the elders of the church, with the anointing with oil.

KJV James 5:14 "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; ..."

-There can be sick among believers - "sick among you"
-There is an action to be taken - "Call" - the first step of faith.
-There is no difficulty in knowing who to call - "Elders" - that is recognised God-anointed leaders.
-There is no healing virtue in the symbol - "Oil" - symbolises the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who dispenses, gives gifts of healing.

3.1.2. CONFESS KNOWN SIN TO EACH OTHER

KJV James 5:16 "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

We are taught in 1 Corinthians 11:28 to examine ourselves before eating the bread and drinking the cup of the Lord's supper. To partake with known unconfessed sin may result in judgement, possibly sickness or physical death (1 Corinthians 11:30 ). Confessing will include faults, slips, wrong or false steps, offenses, sins. Pray for one another. Love requires that we do. The righteous can be channels of Holy Spirit healing energy.

3.1.3. CONTINUE IN THE WORD

KJV John 15:7 "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."

KJV Romans 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

Constant acceptance of the authority of His Word in practised obedience maintains personal connection with Christ the Life source. Praying in the imparted word of the Lord, by praying in the Holy Spirit, enables asking the desire of Jesus Himself.

3.1.4. CLAIM YOUR RECOVERY

NKJV Mark 16:18 "... they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

Assurance can be received of the commencement of healing "Will recover", literally - "get well". A process of recuperation. There can be instantaneous manifestation of healing - but usually divine healing is a process.

3.1.5. CONCENTRATE ON GOD'S CARING LOVE

KJV Hebrews 13:5 "... I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. "

Said to saints of old and new. You can depend upon His presence and supply.

3.1.6. CO-OPERATE IN ACTIVE FAITH

KJV Mark 5:34 "And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague."

-The woman decided on a faith action (Mark 5:28 ).
-The woman's faith action was commended (Mark 5:34 ).

Co-operating faith can be the hand that takes divine healing.

KJV Psalm 107:20 "He sent his word, and healed them, ..."

When you know you have a spoken word from the Lord about your healing clutch on to the "rhema" (Greek meaning 'spoken word').

3.2. INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE ELDERS

KJV James 5:14 "... and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:"

Our Part Is To Fulfill The Word's Instructions:

-PRAY OVER THEM. In other words, take in their condition and present it and them to the Lord.
-ANOINT THE SICK WITH OIL. Recognise the gifts of healings flow from the Holy Spirit.
-INVOKE THE LORD'S NAME not your own, His redemptive, all-powerful name.
-PRAY THE PRAYER OF FAITH, effective, powerful. Pray in the Holy Spirit.
-BE IN RIGHT RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD, AND WITH MAN - "righteous." Not giving honour to his wife can hinder prayer (1 Peter 3:7 ), not being right with fellow leader's or body members will hinder a leaders prayers.

The Lord's Part Of The Covenant:

-He will raise up the sick one (James 5:15 ).
-He will forgive - sin, faults, slips, offenses.
