4. PRACTISED LIMITATIONS

 A LEADING QUESTION
4.1. HAS GOD PUT ANY LIMITS TO HIS ALL- POWER?

A KEY SCRIPTURE

Psalm 119:89 "... For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven." (KJV)

ARRIVING AT AN ANSWER

4.1.1. GOD CANNOT AND WILL NOT DO ANYTHING CONTRARY TO HIS OWN NATURE

This text tells us that the God of all-power cannot break His own word. His word stands fast without change - He will not act against His own wisdom and goodness. So, while there is nothing He cannot do because of who He is, there are things He will not do.

Here are some of the examples of what the all-powerful God cannot do.

God Cannot Lie

Hebrews 6:17-19 "Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: 18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;" (KJV)

God Cannot Deny Himself

2 Timothy 2:13 "If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself." (NKJV)

God Cannot Be Unrighteous

Romans 9:14 "What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Certainly not!"

God Cannot Be Tempted With Evil, Nor Tempt With Evil

James 1:13 "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:" (KJV)

God Cannot Save One Soul Apart From Faith, And The Grace Of Our Lord Jesus Christ

Romans 3:26 "to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus." (NKJV)

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (KJV)

God, In Saving Us Could Not Spare Himself Nor His Son

Matthew 27:42 "He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him." (KJV)

How glorious are the personal limitations of our all-powerful God, without them we would be without hope.
