To be a kingdom son is to be like Jesus in our world.
John 20:21 "... As the Father has sent Me, I also send you".
He was heaven's ambassador. "God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself" (2 Corinthians 5:19 ). "As" He was sent, so "also" we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God was pleading to the world through us:
The Greek word for "ambassador" was the term for the emperor's representative. We are Christ's representatives. He is depending on us to plead His cause and bear His message before the many who don't know Him. Only the reconciled and saved can bear the message of reconciliation through His blood. As ambassadors we must remember we are citizens of heaven (Philippians 3:20 ). Therefore our affection should be set on things above (Colossians 3:2 ). We should attract interest in the kingdom of heaven by revealing our affection for the King and the kingdom.
As kingdom sons we are sown in the world to produce a harvest for the kingdom. When the disciples asked Jesus to explain the parable of the tares of the field, He answered and said to them:
Notice that the seed of the kingdom is not just a spoken word, it is a word embodied in sons of the kingdom. "As" the sent Son of Man was the Word which became flesh, so "also" His sent ones are the kingdom word which has become flesh. They are sown in the world, sown in homes, showing kingdom family life; sown in offices, professions, shops, factories, communities, nations, living out the kingdom principles and kingdom lives: affecting and influencing those around them, providing food, stability, order and service. Remember, kingdom son, that you are sown, placed by the King, just where you are. Your kingdom living is to shine for God.
A kingdom housewife started to earn the right to share her life and Lord with her neighbour, after helping her new acquaintance by looking after her child while she went shopping on a number of occasions. Her neighbour, now becoming a friend, dropped in to see her regularly over a period of some weeks. Then one afternoon, asked if she could come with her husband so they could meet the kingdom woman's husband.
The visit proved to be a happy one and the couple started to visit regularly. Then came the evening when the kingdom couple were told by their new friends that they loved being in their home because they felt peace and joy there, and what was more, witnessing first hand the just way in which they handled situations with their children. They did not realise then, that they were describing the flesh and blood manifestation of the kingdom of God.
It will not surprise you to learn that the couple were soon led to know Jesus as Saviour and Lord by the kingdom man and wife.
As a sent one, you have a kingdom zone of influence: those living around you, to influence for the Master and His kingdom. Remember, you are sent to show a life delivered from sin, and cleansed from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9 ), and also to show a life lived under the Lord's supreme authority. You are sent to show forth kingdom provision, that there is no emergency that can arise which He is unable to deal with.
Your kingdom life as representing Him should provoke people into the kingdom. Live out the mind of the King (1 Corinthians 2:12 ). Deliver His message by letting it be shown on the screen of your life. Do not forget, no matter how active the enemy, you, as His ambassador, have all the authority and power of heaven behind you.
