6.4. DESCRIPTION OF THE TABERNACLE ERECTION

Moses now instructs the people on the construction of the tabernacle. Chapter 35:1-3 deals with the Sabbath. Then comes the demand for the materials needed in the making of the tabernacle (Exodus 35:4-19 ), followed by a description of men, women and rulers who offered of their substance and time for the work (Exodus 35:20-29 ). The Lord Himself chose those persons and named them, who would do the actual construction (Exodus 35:30-35 ).

QUESTIONS FOR GROUP INTERACTION

1. Where will the gathering of all saints in Christ take place (Exodus 35:1; 1 Thessalonians 4:17 )?
   • Are local fellowships to gather (Hebrews 10:25 )?
   • What is to be the main purpose for your gathering with the Lord's people (Exodus 35:1b )?

2. Do you see in the Sabbath a picture of your spiritual life, the basic principle of which is holiness (Exodus 35:2 )?

3. Are you kindling your own fire of self-interest, of zeal, or ambition (Exodus 35:3 )?
   • What fire is made available to you as a believer (Matthew 3:11; Acts 2:3 )?

4. Is what you do and give for the kingdom, from a willing heart (Exodus 35:5 )?
   • Do you attribute your willingness to the work of the Holy Spirit in your heart (Philippians 2:13 )?
   • Is your giving to the Lord for His purposes (Exodus 35:5-9 )?
   • Are you, and all you have, your skills, available to the Lord (Exodus 35:10-19 )?
   • Having heard the Word of the Lord, do you depart to carry it out (Exodus 35:20 )?

5. Reading verse 21 do you find it very practical and heart-searching because of its application to you now?
   • What did those who were spirit-willing bring (Exodus 35:22-24 )?

6. What did the skilled women do (Exodus 35:25-26 )?
   • What kind of practical skills are women involved with in the church?
   • Was more in the way of giving was expected of the rulers, or did their giving expensive gifts show their rightness of heart (Exodus 35:27-28 )?
   • Why were their gifts so important from their use point of view?
   • Were there any who were excluded from the privilege of giving (Exodus 35:29 )?

7. Where did Bezalel get his special gifting from (Exodus 35:30-33 )?
   • For what practical purposes are you to be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18 )?
   • From Ephesians 5 and 6 do you see your need of saturation by the Holy Spirit of all family life and service?

8. Does the Holy Spirit not only give skill to do, but ability to teach others to do (Exodus 35:34-35 )?
   • What place does teaching have in the Lord's commission (Matthew 28:19-20 )?
