First, "The Tunic on Aaron" (Exodus 29:5)
So our High Priest first was clothed with His human righteousness and holiness before putting on the glory that He had with the Father before the world was (John 17:5 ).
"The Anointing Oil" (Exodus 29:7)
After the garments comes the anointing. Our Lord's spotless life at Nazareth culminated His anointing with the Holy Spirit for His great work of redeeming His people, and of being their High Priest (Acts 10:38 ). Like Aaron, his sons are clothed and anointed. For service we partake of his anointing.
John 1:16 "And of His fulness we have all received ..."
The sacrifices point to Christ the perfect sin offering. (2 Corinthians 5:21 ). In the applying of the blood to Aaron's right ear, right thumb and right foot (toe), and to that of his sons, has no correspondence with the Lord Jesus. He had no need, being perfectly obedient. The action is to be contrasted with Christ and not compared with Him. There is an application of truth for believers - the blood applied by faith to the ear, symbolises obedience to God (Cf Exodus 21:6 ). Thumb and toes symbolise work for God. We need to be cleansed from all wrong hearing and work not glorifying to God, Or from dullness of hearing and deeds of the flesh. The sprinkling of the blood all around and on the altar (Exodus 29:20 ) reminds us that Christ Jesus appears in heaven as a Lamb as it had been slain (Revelation 5:6 ). The blood and the anointing oil sprinkled upon Aaron and his sons, tell us that where the blood is applied the Spirit comes.
John 14:17 "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive ..."
Acts 19:2 "... Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? ..."
The coming of the Spirit in power is subsequent to believing, and so having the blood applied by faith. The bread taken from the basket and waved before the Lord - was an action in Aaron and his sons in personal identification with the righteousness of Christ by faith - the unleavened bread spoke of the sinless, perfect Christ Jesus. The ceremonies of which we have only considered briefly, lasted seven days (Exodus 29:35 ). Under the law continual daily sacrifices had to be made (Exodus 29:38-41 ), so it is proper for us who are a kingdom of priests to go before God in daily sacrifice and priestly worship.

What implication do you see in the anointing oil coming after the clothing (Acts 10:38 )?
To what perfect sacrifice do the sacrifices point (Exodus 29:10-22; 2 Corinthians 5:21 )?
Did you notice that the waved offerings (Exodus 29:22-23 ) were put into the hands of Aaron (Leviticus 8:27,29 ), but Moses waved them (Exodus 29:24 ), and he did the same with each son. Did you see in this a picture of Hebrews 9:14?
