1.5.4. "SANG A SONG UNTO THE LORD" (Exodus 15:1-18)

Exodus 15:21 records the first spiritual song of scripture. It was sung by a people saved. The time of their singing was immediate and consequent on their salvation. Facing the sea of death before the word of the Lord came to them through Moses (Exodus 14:12-13 ). Now the foe is routed and the victory won. The order is, they "SAW", they "BELIEVED", and then they "SANG" (Exodus 14:31; 15:1 ).

BiblePsalm 106:12 "Then they believed His words, they sang His praise."

"The Lord is ... My Song" (Exodus 15:2)

The song is all about the Lord, the glory of His person, the greatness of His power. "The Lord is my strength and song." "He has triumphed gloriously." Not a word about self, nothing about what they had done." That is true praise, and so it shall be eternally - "Worthy is the Lamb." (Revelation 4:11. 5:12 ).

NOTE:- This was a prophetic song, the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit were in operation (1 Corinthians 12:8, 10 ).

In my book "Prophetic Workbook" (page 32) I give the following: "Exodus 15 verses 1-4 are prophecy that is speaking to edification, exhortation and comfort. (1 Corinthians 14:3 ). Verse 5 would be a word of God's all-knowledge. Verses 6-7 are again prophecy, words of edification etc. Verses 8-10 are words of knowledge from God. Verses 11-12 edification, exhortation and comfort. Verses 13-18 contain words of wisdom, telling beforehand the effect that Israel would have on the people of Palestine, and that they would be established in the land, and that the temple would be built. Verse 18 is a word of wisdom showing the mind and purpose of God, that Christ will reign and that His reign will be forever."

In the gathering together of the Lord's Spirit-filled people today, prophecy in song is in operation, bringing supernatural praise to God and enlightenment to His people. The song concludes the first section of Exodus: DELIVERANCE FROM BONDAGE.
