A nation is going through its final birthpangs. Their deliverance is to be by blood and power. The month that signifies a new beginning is Abib, the month of the "ripening of the ear". After the captivity it was called "Nisan" (Nehemiah 2:1; Esther 3:7 ).
Exodus 12:1-14 records the institution of the Passover - Points to Christ.
1 Corinthians 5:7 "Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us."
Lamb proclaimed.
John 1:29 "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!"
Lamb selected (Exodus 12:6 ).
Revelation 13:8 "... the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world."

Feeding on the substitutionary Lamb, all who ate deserved judgment - that judgment fell on the lamb.

Feeding on the lamb whose blood was sprinkled to protect (Exodus 12:7 ). Blood on the doorposts and lintel, not on the threshold - never trample on the blood (Hebrews 10:29 ).

Feeding on the lamb in entirety:
1 Corinthians 11:24 "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you;"
His whole saving health. Eat the lamb with unleavened bread (Exodus 12:8 ). Self examination needs to take place (1 Corinthians 11:28 ). Feed on unleavened bread of sincerity and truth (1 Corinthians 5:8 ). Feed with bitter herbs (Exodus 12:8 ). Identification with His rejection and suffering. This is the key to reigning with Him (2 Timothy 2:12 ). Feeding on the lamb signifies freedom, unity, satisfaction (Exodus 12:4 ). According to appetite. Also signifies readiness. Preparedness is the attitude of Kingdom people.
Exodus 12:11 "... belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand."
